Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) brings the benefits of scientific research and traditional meditation direct to your daily life. It was developed after a ‘Mind and Life Conference’ on destructive emotions held by world-leading experts in emotions research and meditation.

CEB
background

At this conference in 2000, the Dalai Lama asked if authentic Buddhist practices could be combined with research findings to reduce “destructive” emotional experiences. In response to this request, Dr. Paul Ekman and Dr. B. Alan Wallace, developed a training unique in its integration of ancient and modern elements.

Over the centuries, Buddhism has developed and refined techniques which can lead to high levels of mental health and wellbeing. These techniques also help us eliminate patterns of thinking and behaviour which get in the way of the genuine happiness we are all seeking. Likewise, modern psychology and neuroscience are making discoveries about the human condition at an impressive rate. And there is increasing scientific interest in these ancient approaches.

Cultivating Emotional Balance is a project that sits in the centre of these two traditions. It offers the best of authentic contemplative practices applied to an up to date understanding of modern research findings. It’s a far-reaching way to transform difficulties the confidence you need to face the world with happiness and enthusiasm.
